I have a hard time keeping my GammonVillage articles straight. I’ve been writing a column for longer than I’ve had the computers I usually use, so I don’t even have all of the columns in one place, and there are some additional articles I have written for GammonVillage outside of my column.

Currently, you need a GammonVillage subscription to view the articles. However, I retain the copyright, so I may eventually post them here.

Earlier this month, I went on a business trip to India to do some backgammon consulting. I was happy to use my background in mathematics, AI, and backgammon.

Perhaps I have gotten a bit rusty at mental arithmetic. I had difficulty computing a pipcount in backgammon, which I found a bit embarrassing. It is a straightforward calculation, but the difficulty was doing it accurately with no pencil and paper while an opponent rattles the dice.
